Dr. Araj is a professor and Director of Clinical Microbiology in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the American University of Beirut. He received a fellowship from the American Board of Medical Microbiology and was the first diplomat certified from the Arab world in 1985. He has been recognized for his work on Brucellosis disease, a disease caused by bacteria commonly found in animals but which can be contracted by humans.
